I became used to watching good Marvel novels transformed into movies( Spiderman, Iron Man, X-Men) but this movie almost disappointed me. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a sucker for good special effects, but I also like the story behind “lame” monsters. I loved the special effects, but all in all this is almost the only good thing this whole movie has – the best special effects there are on the market. The beginning of the movie was good. A nice intro to the story and a first glance at the coming of Thor on Earth but just when you would have thought that all is ok and the story would grow at a good interesting rate, everything goes to Hell. Big lacks start to appear in the time line and story, the events seem to jump from one second to another skipping  important things that would explain everything better and catch the eye of the viewer. But all these aren’t the greatest flaw.

The worst thing was that despite the fact that the action builds very nicely in the beginning and predicts a grand finale, everything fails in the way the story tells itself. Arround the time Thors friends come to Earth, the director gives the impression that he rushed the ending of the movie too much. No more details, and in what seemed to be 10 minutes to the viewer, his friends come, he dies, he becomes again Thor and conquers all. Come on guys. You started so nice with this film, only to finish it in the worst way there could be. All this movie does is let you with a bad taste in your mouth and lusting for more from its finale.

Another big problem with this movie seems to be the Loki character. He is too simple and his motivation lacks at best. Just around the time you seem to understand him, he surprises the watcher in the worst kind of way. Do not understand me wrong, I love twisted characters, but all motivation has to have an inch of logic in it. I see no reason in changing the motivation of a character in the middle of the climax without any explanation.

The thing I liked most, was the link they made in the movie with Iron Man when they bring into the story Stark Enterprise and S.H.I.E.L.D. so… we are to understand a future merging of the story with the Iron Man block buster.

All in all, this is a good popcorn movie, great to watch with your mates or girlfriend/boyfriend on a Friday night. Awesome special effects, and good actors with good acting. The story may lack at some times and may have some minuses from the middle onwards but all in all it is an entertaining movie to watch.
